Frequently Asked Questions

Can I just tape my broken finger myself?

Sometimes finger fractures only need tape or splinting.  A hand surgeon should evaluate all fractures and obtain xrays to confirm which type of treatment is best.

There are many factors that influence long term finger stiffness, including the type of fracture, treatment type, patient age, hand therapy, etc.

Some pins used for fracture fixation are removed after 4-6 weeks, while other types of hardware such as plates and screws are often left internal.
